The leader of the Azerbaijani delegation to the EuroNest Parliamentary Assembly Azer Karimli took part in the online meeting of the EuroNest PA Bureau held on 25 June.

The gathering began with the introductory speeches of the EuroNest PA co-chairmen Andrius Kubilius and Maka Bochorishvili, with Andrius Kubilius proceeding to act as the meeting moderator.

The participating national delegations’ leaders talked about the politico-economic developments current in their countries, the present state affairs with the COVID-19 pandemic and the steps taken to com bat the pandemic, maintaining security in the Eastern Partnership expanse and protecting states’ territorial integrity.

The leader of the Azerbaijani delegation Azer Karimli informed the assembled of our country having restored its territorial wholeness and generated new co-operation opportunities in the region thusly at the remains of last year. The new realia put an end to the thirty-year-long armed stand-off between Azerbaijan and Armenia; they also created a fertile soil on which to build normal relations between the two sides, to bring on sustainable peace, create economic ties and undertaken infrastructural and communication projects. Having stressed that, Mr Karimli expressed a hope that the new government that is to be formed in Armenia will not espouse revanchist aspirations concerning Azerbaijan but will observe the provisions of the Trilateral Statement and uphold regional co-operation.

Azer Karimli talked about the opposing side evading releasing minefield maps, the Azerbaijani journalists who had tripped a mine, the Zangazur Corridor to be materialised and the restoration work afoot in Garabagh.

Fostering ties amongst the EP states, the agenda of the EP Summit due to take place towards the end of this year and other matters were talked of during the meeting. Appropriate decisions were passed, too.
