Chair of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Meets Kyrgyz Republic Foreign Minister
Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova had a meeting with the delegation led by the Kyrgyz Republic’s Foreign Affairs Minister Ruslan Kazakbayev on 2 July.
Welcoming the guests sincerely, Madame Speaker spoke of the great importance attached by Azerbaijan to furthering the ties with the friendly Kyrgyzstan, adding that the cultural and spiritual affinity of our nations guaranteed firmly that their relations would become yet more profound. The bilateral bonds established in the course of history attained a new level qualitatively as the two countries had gained independence. The conversations held during the reciprocal high-plane visits and the documents signed between our countries matter immensely for the intensification of the relations. As regards the economic sector, there, too, exists a vast potential to tap to make substantial achievements.
Then, Madame Chair said that Azerbaijan led by Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev recovered its native lands formerly under Armenian occupation and enforced the four resolutions of the UN Security Council independently in the course of the 44-day Patriotic War. The whole civil infrastructure and cultural heritage of the freed lands had been destroyed by the Armenian vandals on a scale only comparable to the devastation of Hiroshima. Even though the conflict is settled already, Armenia will not cease from its unseemly course of action. Instead, Armenia refuses to divulge minefields and evades fulfilment of the provisions of the Trilateral Statement of 10 November only to hinder the restoration and creative work in currency in those lands and to cause delay in the internally displaced people’s returns to their homelands. Armenia also resorts to borderline provocations, plants squads of terrorists in our liberated lands and is trying to mislead the international community on the matter of the ‘prisoners of war’, Madame Speaker continued, thanking then the Kyrgyz side for having stood for the just cause of Azerbaijan.
Sahiba Gafarova also mentioned during the conversation that our bilateral relations were on the rise on the inter-parliamentary plane, too. It is fine and laudable that there are the active friendship groups in the legislative bodies of both countries, Mrs Gafarova noted before sharing her thoughts about the work of those groups and saying that our MPs’ regular encounters under the auspices of international organisations were in the common interest. Madame Chair also underlined the significance of our co-operation under the aegis of the TURKPA.
Thanking for the kind reception, Ruslan Kazakbayev also expressed satisfaction with the visit to our country and the meetings held during it. Azerbaijan is a country that is important to Kyrgyzstan, Mr Kazakbayev pointed out and proceeded to thank Azerbaijan on behalf of Kyrgyzstan for the humanitarian aid given to his country in connexion with the pandemic that has become the whiplash of the world. Mr Kazakbayev also opined confidently that the deepening of our inter-parliamentary relations was bound to bear well on the other areas of interaction, too.
Matters of shared interest were talked over subsequently.
A Milli Majlis Committee Chairman and Leader of the Working Group for the inter-parliamentary contacts with Kyrgyzstan Musa Guliyev, a Milli Majlis Committee Chairman Samad Seyidov, Chief of the Milli Majlis Staff Safa Mirzayev, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Hidayat Orujov and other officials were attending the meeting as well.
