Milli Majlis Chair Sahiba Gafarova Meets with Ambassadors to Several Countries

The chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has met with the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors of Azerbaijan recently appointed to several countries.

Specifically, Chair Sahiba Gafarova had meetings with the ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Khazar Farhadov, the ambassador to Republic of Latvia Elnur Sultanov, the ambassador to Republic of Austria Rovshan Sadigbeyli, the ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium Vagif Sadigov, the ambassador to Republic of Turkey Rashad Mammadov and the ambassador to Republic of Estonia Anar Maharramov. Meetings were also held with the ambassador of Azerbaijan Republic to Republic of Poland Nargiz Gurbanova, head of our permanent representative office at the European Council Ambassador Fakhraddin Ismayilov, the ambassador to Republic of Korea Ramzi Teymurov and the ambassador to Republic of Moldova Gudsi Osmanov.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova emphasised at all the meetings the dramatic need to proliferate information about the realia of Azerbaijan, protect the state interests and make the most of the parliamentary diplomacy opportunities to make our international connexions stronger. The speaker of the Milli Majlis also spoke about how important it is for a continued progress of the international ties of the Milli Majlis to support the implementation of national legislatures’ joint initiatives serving to broaden and strengthen their co-operation further. It was said, besides, that it was necessary to pay special attention to exchange of law-making experience and that intensifying joint activities in parliamentary organisations matters very much.

It is crucial, it was noted at those conversations, that international institutions, overseas state departments and public at national levels should be made wholly aware of the new realia that emerged in the region following the glorious victory won in the 44-day Patriotic War under the esteemed President and Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev’s leadership. Besides, they discussed the current state and development prospects of the relations between the Milli Majlis and the national legislative bodies of those countries to which the aforementioned ambassadors are appointed.
