The Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met on 18 November with the Secretary General of the TurkPA Altynbek Mamayusupov, President of the International Turkic Academy Darhan Kidirali and President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Efendiyeva.

Having welcomed the guests, the Speaker started the conversation by telling them of the victory that the glorious  Azerbaijani Army had achieved under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev in the Patriotic War. She stressed that the previously occupied lands of our country had been recovered consequent to the victory that was to go down in history as a splendid triumph of Azerbaijan.

Mrs Gafarova expressed content with the opportunity to welcome the officials of the organisations that represent the Turkic World, the countries of which are being bond together increasingly stronger in many ways thanks to these three institutions. For instance, the TurkPA that the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan is chairing currently is fulfilling the massive task of broadening the interparliamentary co-operation. The Milli Majlis as a TurkPA chair intends to continue aiding the latter’s work duly henceforth in view of the essential role this association performs in the strengthening the friendly ties and mutual understanding amongst its member-nations.

The Chair then touched on the work done by the Turkic Academy and commended on it. The institution that was incepted at the 9^th summit meeting of the Turkic-speaking states’ leaders in Nakhchivan back in 2009 was meant to conduct research of various aspects of the Turkic World and had returned successful results in the short period past, Mrs Gafarova remarked.

As regards the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, the Speaker highlighted the role of this organisation, which was established at the suggestion of President Ilham Aliyev, in the preservation, study and promulgation of the Turkic peoples’ culture and heritage. The tours-de-table, exhibitions and international events arranged under the aegis of the Foundation all serve that purpose.

The TurkPA Secretary General Altynbek Mamayusupov, the Turkic Academy President Darhan Kidirali and the President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Efendiyeva congratulated the Chair of the Milli Majlis on the brilliant victory secured in the Patriotic War under the direction of the Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev and on the restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

Then, the guests updated Mrs Gafarova of the activities and future plans of their respective institutions. Besides, they voiced their shared intention to hold international-level events in Azerbaijan’s freed territories in general and in Shusha  in particular and shared the relevant ideas.

Matters of interest to all the sides were discussed during the meeting, too.
