Milli Majlis Chair Sahiba Gafarova Meets Chair of Mazhilis of Kazakh Parliament Nurlan Nigmatulin
As reported previously, Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova is in Austria on a working visit to take part in the 5th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament.
The chair of the Milli Majlis has met the chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Nurlan Nigmatulin as part of her current visit.
Welcoming the Kazakh speaker cordially, the chair of the Milli Majlis let him know the immense importance Azerbaijan attaches to furthering its relations with the friendly and fraternal Kazakhstan. The friendship and brotherly ties between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan the foundation for which were laid by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and the first President of Kazakhstan Elbashi Nursultan Nazarbayev are maintained with success by the heads of both states in our time, according to Mrs Gafarova.
Our states co-operate actively, both bilaterally and through the international organisations, she noted before emphasising the significance of our interaction in the TURKPA format.
Further, Sahiba Gafarova pointed at that the bilateral relations rest on a solid legal framework with the documents signed by the two sides encompassing the very diverse areas and making a continued deepening of the Azerbaijani-Kazakh co-operation possible.
Next, Sahiba Gafarova broached the subject of the roles of the parliaments of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in the advancement of the inter-state relations. As she was talking about them, Mrs Gafarova praised the work done by the friendship groups functioning in the legislative assemblies of the two countries. Reciprocal visits and regular meetings of Azerbaijani and Kazakh MPs at influential international parliamentary institutions matter very much for the continuing development of the mutual relations whilst providing opportunities to discuss the matters of concern to both sides.
As she was informing her Kazakh colleague of Azerbaijan’s victory in the 44-day Patriotic War, the chair of the Milli Majlis stressed that our victorious Army had ended the thirty-year Armenian occupation under the leadership of Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. Azerbaijan enforced the four resolutions of the UN Security Council all by itself and made its national territory whole again. That conflict is history now; Azerbaijan is busy restoring its de-occupied lands already.
Sahiba Gafarova also supplied her colleague from Kazakhstan with ample information from the subversive moves of Armenia intended to prevent sustainable peace being established in the region. She drew the attention of Mr Nigmatulin to Armenia evading the release of detailed maps of all the minefields, Armenia planting terrorist groups to the liberated territories in brazen defiance of the postulations of the 10th November 2020 Trilateral Statement and the border provocations committed by, again, Armenia.
Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Nurlan Nigmatulin greeted the speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova sincerely and told her that the brotherly Azerbaijan was a very important and dependable partner to Kazakhstan. Mr Nigmatulin also put the spotlight on how the personal friendship of the two heads of state mattered for the progress of the relations between our countries.
The bi-partite relations are going forward in all the fields dynamically; there are broad opportunities to deepen them further and as regards the on-going evolution of the connexions between our supreme legislative assemblies, those ties and their advance having a visible benevolent influence on the other interaction areas, according to Nurlan Nigmatulin. This is important for discussing topics and issues of both sides’ concern, in his opinion. Having said that, Mr Nigmatulin underlined Azerbaijan’s tremendous contribution being made to the work done by the TURKPA.
Other matters of shared interest were discussed at the meeting as well.
It is worth mentioning that Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has, as part of her current working visit to the Austrian capital city for the 5th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, also met Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong and Chair of Latvia’s Saeima Ināra Mūrniece. Further meetings are taking place in the context of the current visit of the chair of the Milli Majlis to Vienna.
