First Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis and Chairman its Human Rights and State-Building Committee Ali Huseynli received the delegation led by Saeed Mohammad Abdullah Omair Al Ghufli, Chairman of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation (the OIC IPHRC) on 23 September.

Ali Huseynli welcomed the guests, going further to mention the fruitful handling of a number of conflicts by the OIC IPHRC and praising the arrival of the Commission’s fact-finding mission to Azerbaijan to probe into the human rights violations in the period when Armenia was waging an occupation policy against Azerbaijan.

The Garabagh Conflict does not exist anymore because Azerbaijan has freed its lands from the Armenian occupation relying on the international laws and following the resolutions of the UN Security Council on this problem, First Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis remarked. The investigation materials of the republic’s law enforcement authorities and reports by the international organisations alike cite the equally convincing factual proof of the war crimes that Armenia has committed against Azerbaijan, according to Mr Huseynli.

Chairman of the Milli Majlis Human Rights Committee Zahid Oruj who was present at the meeting spoke with pleasure about the fair and unequivocal stances of the OIC and its divisions on the Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan, about the categorical condemnation of that aggression by the Organisation and its Member States alike about their demands of immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the invading troops from the territories of Azerbaijan they had captured. Azerbaijan, in turn, has invariably taken a constructive position in deliberations, decision-making and passing of resolutions regarding the main issues of the OIC Member States. Azerbaijan attaches a great importance to co-operation with the Islamic states in every field, Mr Oruj was saying.

Chairman of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation Saeed Mohammad Abdullah Omair Al Ghufli let it be known that he and his delegation intended to use their current visit to Azerbaijan to go to the territories of Azerbaijan freed from the Armenian occupation. He briefed his interlocutors of his fact-finding mission.

Deputy Chairman of the OIC IPHRC Ali Açıkgül, Executive Director of the IPHRC Secretariat Marghoob Saleem Butt and Head of the Ombudsman’s Office/OIC IPHRC member Aydin Safikhanli talked about the forthcoming mission work and planned investigations as the conversation unfolded. It was said that the mission report would be put before the world audience once ready.
