Our MPs to Take Part in PACE Autumn Session

A delegation of the Milli Majlis are leaving for Strasbourg, France on 25 September to take part in the autumn session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

The departing group consists of Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee for Foreign and Inter-parliamentary Relations and Leader of our delegation to the PACE Samad Seyidov and the delegation members, the MPs Erkin Gadirli, Tural Ganjaliyev, Rafael Huseynov, Nigyar Arpadarai and Kamal Jafarov.

The scope of the session in Strasbourg includes the reports by the PACE Bureau and Permanent Committee and a presentation of the outcomes of the parliamentary elections conducted in Bulgaria and Moldova. Besides, there will be discussions about socio-economic and gender equalities, the climate change action, environmental issues, human rights and other matters.

Also, it is planned to discuss the humanitarian consequences of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.

Our delegation’s Kamal Jafarov will table the draft 2nd Addendum Protocol on expanded co-operation and disclosure of electronic evidence to the Cybercrime Convention.

It should be mentioned that the PACE autumn session will have the Assembly’s committees and political groups hold their meetings, too. The members of the Azerbaijani delegation will join in the discussions of the items on the session’s agenda; they will put forth their opinions and proposals.

Their visit ends on 2 October.

The Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan - The state legislative power branch organ is a unicameral parliament that has 125 MPs. The MPs are elected as based on the majority electoral system by free, private and confidential vote reliant on the general, equitable and immediate suffrage. The tenure of a Milli Majlis convocation is 5 years.
