Chairs of TurkPA Member States Take Part in a Press Conference

A press conference was called on 28 September about the outcomes of the 10th plenary sitting of the TurkPA held in the town of Turkestan in Kazakhstan.

Chair of the Azerbaijani parliament Sahiba Gafarova who spoke at the press conference underlined the significance of the 10th plenary sitting in terms of the Assembly fulfilling the task list. All the items on the agenda had been discussed extensively in a working environment and pertinent decisions had been made, Mrs Gafarova noted.

The event’s having taken place in the town of Turkestan is very momentous, said the Chair of the Milli Majlis before praising the work done by Kazakhstan’s First President Nursultan Nazarbayev for the progress of his country.

The sitting culminated in the signing of the Turkestan Declaration encompassing many vital issues of the Turkic World including such weighty ones as de-occupation of its lands and restoration of its national territory by Azerbaijan, according to Speaker Sahiba Gafarova. In addition, the document hails the signing of the Shusha Declaration by Azerbaijan and Turkey on 15 June 2021 to strengthen and broaden further their multifaceted co-operation and to maintain inviolable stability in the region. The opening of the Zangazur Corridor will bring a remarkable contribution to the transit and trade potentials of the Turkic World, it is also emphasised in the Declaration.

Then, the leader of the Azerbaijani parliament said confidently that the decisions made at the plenary sitting were going to serve the Turkic-speaking countries’ prosperity and to strengthen the inter-state relations.

The Speaker of the Milli Majlis wished the Acting Chair of the Assembly and her colleagues success.
