Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has met the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev in the Kazakh capital of Nursultan as part of her current official visit to the country. The meeting took place on 29 September.

The First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev welcomed the delegation of the Milli Majlis cordially. He let them know that he followed the developments current in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan’s victory in the Patriotic War is of immense importance for the whole region and for the Turkic World, Mr Nazarbayev said and congratulated our country on it once more. Then, he shared his good memories of the independent Azerbaijani State’s architect Heydar Aliyev and spoke commandingly of the creative work, arrangements, economic progress and successful reforms in various state-building areas in Azerbaijan over the 30 years past.

Nursultan Nazarbayev was saying that the foreign political course pursued by President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, the steps to ensure peace and stability in the region and the opening of transport corridors under the new realia had greatly elevated the international reputation of Azerbaijan.

The Chair of the Milli Majlis passed on to Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev the compliments and best wishes of President Ilham Aliyev and brought up the friendship between Azerbaijan’s National Leader Heydar Aliyev and this outstanding personality that the people of Kazakhstan brought forth. Mrs Gafarova underscored the undisputable merits of these two great men in the strengthening of the bonds of brotherhood and mutual trust between our nations.

Each meeting of President Ilham Aliyev with Nursultan Nazarbayev makes a special page in the history of the Azerbaijani-Kazakh relationship. The leader of our country Ilham Aliyev decorated Nursultan Nazarbayev with the ‘Heydar Aliyev’ Order during the official visit that this prominent person paid to Azerbaijan in 2017, Sahiba Gafarova remembered with pleasure.

The people of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan alike had had to pass through difficult stages in their independence periods, Madame Speaker continued; our diplomatic relations are turning thirty next year, it was pointed out.

As the conversation went on, the leader of the Azerbaijani parliament also commented on such topics as the significant role of the inter-parliamentary co-operation in broadening the bilateral ties and the import of the Co-operation Treaty between the Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic and the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. There are friendship groups in both legislatures; the two sides’ MPs co-operate affluently in the international organisations.

Also, Sahiba Gafarova underlined the high praise for the initiative of Kazakhstan’s First President Nursultan Nazarbayev to unite the Turkic peoples. She then put the spotlight on the opportunities to reinforce the Azerbaijani-Kazakh relations and expand the mutually beneficial co-operation – the opportunities, that is, that are provided by the TurkPA, the TURKSOY and the Co-Operation Council of Turkic-Speaking Countries.

As she talked about the Patriotic War, a glorious page in the history of Azerbaijan, she said that our resolute Army led by Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev had responded to Armenia adequately, restored the territorial wholeness of our country and enforced the well-known resolutions of the UN Security Council. The conflict was put paid to with the trilateral statement that the leaders of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia had signed on 10 November 2020, Mrs Gafarova pointed out before telling of the restoration and building work afoot in the territories that had been reduced to the state of the Hiroshima of the Caucasus.

There was also an exchange of opinions about other topics of shared concern during the meeting.
