At the Meeting of the BSEC Parliamentary Assembly Committee

Azerbaijan was represented at the 58th meeting of the Legal and Political Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Co-operation (PABSEC) held on 4 October by the leader of the Milli Majlis delegation to the PABSEC Eldar Guliyev and the delegation member Jala Ahmadova.

Chairman of the PABSEC Legal and Political Affairs Committee Mikhail Yemelyanov (Russia) opened the meeting and introduced its agenda. First, they approved the minutes of the 57th committee meeting and then, Roberta Alma Anastase (Romania) presented the keynote statement ‘On Acceleration of Digitalisation and Innovative Development for Greater Efficiency of Legislative Process and Transparency of Parliamentary Activities’.

Next, Jala Ahmadova informed the Committee of the digitalisation and transparency policy being implemented in Azerbaijan, the e-Government and e-court systems and the ASAN Service. The issues of implementing digital technologies and increasing citizens’ satisfaction are priorities in the state policy in Azerbaijan, Mrs Ahmadova remarked.

The meeting participants approved both the keynote statement and the Committee’s recommendations regarding it. They also reviewed the current operations of the institution and the other agenda items; appropriate decisions were made duly. Besides, the date, venue and agenda of the next committee meeting were set.

In addition, the Committee addressed organisational matters: Roberta Alma Anastase (Romania) was elected Committee Chair and Tülay Kaynarca (Turkey) Deputy Chair of the Committee.

In conclusion of the meeting, the PABSEC Secretary General Asaf Hajiyev thanked Mikhail Yemelyanov (Russia) who had stood off the chairmanship of the Committee and wished its new leaders success.
