Patriotic War Shahids Commemorated in Ganja
A commemoration ceremony for the victims of the Armenian ballistic missiles fired at Ganja was held in that second-in-size city of Azerbaijan to mark the anniversary of the attacks. The ceremony went with the participation of First Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis Ali Huseynli as well as the parliamentary committee chairman Musa Guliyev, MP Parvin Karimzade, the head of the Ganja Administration Niyazi Bayramov, Turkey’s Consul General in Ganja Zeki Öztürk, clerics and the city folk.
First, the assembled honoured the memory of the victims of the Ganja Terror.
First Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis Ali Huseynli talked about the illegal Armenian bombardments of the residential areas and towns situated far from the theatre of operations – especially, of Ganja – with prohibited armaments starting in the first days of the Patriotic War. For that, the retaliation for the lives of the people of Ganja and other killed civilians was not slow in catching up with the Armenian troops as Azerbaijan’s Army packed crushing punches on them. Our Army demonstrated the combat morals and military culture completely different from those of the Armenian side at that, Mr Huseynli was saying.
The other speakers referred to the cases of destruction of the Azerbaijani peaceful population by Armenia and stressed that that terror had failed to intimidate the townsfolk, though.
They mentioned the premeditated Armenian heavy artillery firing at the Azerbaijani population centres during the 44-day Patriotic War – in breach of the international legal norms and principles, in breach also of the 1949 Geneva Convention c/w the Additional Protocols and in violation even of the humanitarian ceasefire requirements that had been agreed upon at the meeting in Moscow held at the request of Armenia itself. The second largest city of Azerbaijan was subjected to missile and large-calibre artillery bombardments. Civilians – including women and children – were killed and wounded. An immense kind of damage was inflicted on the civic infrastructure as well as the cultural and historical monuments and sites of the city.
The ceremony participants adorned the destruction sites with fresh flowers in token of respect for the memory of those who had parted with their lives. The prayers for the dead were read.
