Presidential Election Due in Uzbekistan

Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis Fazail Ibrahimli will stand at the helm of our parliamentary delegation leaving for the Uzbek capital of Tashkent on 21 October to monitor the forthcoming presidential election in that country.

Deputy Speaker Fazail Ibrahimli and the delegation members the Disciplinary Commission Chairman Eldar Ibrahimov, the Culture Committee Chair Ganira Pashayeva and the MPs Javanshir Pashazade and Aydin Mirzazade will be monitoring for the CIS PA while MP Agalar Valiyev will act on behalf of the TURKPA.

Our MPs are going to assess the preparations made for the ballot. On the voting day, they will be watching the process proper at the election stations, citizens’ activity, protection of electors’ rights in the process and compliance with democracy requirements.

This trip will be over on 25 October.

The Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan - The state legislative power branch organ is a unicameral parliament that has 125 MPs. The MPs are elected as based on the majority electoral system by free, private and confidential vote reliant on the general, equitable and immediate suffrage. The tenure of a Milli Majlis convocation is 5 years.
