The commemorative day of Maarif Mikayil oglu Safarov, a shahid of the 44-day Patriotic War, went in the Jalilabad Province on 21 October with MP Malik Hasanov, the head of the provincial administration Rafig Jalilov, the shahid’s relations, other shahids’ families and the local public in attendance.

Those who had joined the proceedings went to the shahid’s memorial house, said prayers for his soul and paid homage to his memory and to that of the other brave ones who had laid their lives down for their country.

It should be mentioned that the shahid Maarif Safarov is decorated with the medals ‘For the Motherland’, ‘The Valiant Warrior’, ‘For Liberation of Gubadli’ and ‘For Liberation of Jabrayil’ to the decrees of President Ilham Aliyev in recognition of his courage and valour in the struggle for the integrity of the Azerbaijan Republic’s borders and for the meritorious discharge of the combat duties that were set before the detachment in which he had been serving.
