Chairman of the France-Azerbaijan Friendship Group Jerome Lambert has sent a letter to Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova and Head of the Azerbaijan-France inter-parliamentary connexions Working Group of the Milli Mejlis Soltan Mammadov.

The letter says that the termination of the three-decades-long Armenian occupation of Azerbaijan’s lands consequent to the successful war waged under the guidance of Ilham Aliyev put an end to the long and oppressive period for the Azerbaijani people.

Mr Lambert deplores the numerous civilian causalities sustained during the conflict and mentions having seen the quarters of Ganja destroyed by Armenian missiles with his own eyes.

The wars and tragedies of all those years past that had caused massive civilian population displacements are now replaced with a new era of progress for the whole region. Writing that he had personally witnessed the beginning of an epoch of reclamation in the freed lands on his visits there, the French parliamentarian mentions the work in progress there under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev to rebuild those areas and to bring back the populace that had been forced to leave their native parts.

Having emerged from all its trials yet stronger than before, Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijanis regardless of their ethnic background are now surging forward to a brighter future, according to the letter from Mr Lambert.

In conclusion, Jerome Lambert assures the Chair of the Milli Majlis and the Head of the Azerbaijan-France inter-parliamentary connexions Working Group of the Milli Mejlis that the France-Azerbaijan Friendship Group he is helming will be making efforts to preserve peace and to further our relations.
