A Meeting with Delegation of Uzbekistan
Chairman of the Milli Majlis Economic Policy, Industries and Enterprising Committee Tahir Mirkishili met on 27 October with the visiting delegation led by Obid Hakimov, Head of the Economic Research and Reforms Centre under the auspices of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Mr Mirkishili greeted the guests telling them it was a pleasure to see him at the Milli Majlis. He congratulated them on Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s re-election as President at the election held in Uzbekistan on 24 October.
Then, Tahir Mirkishili spoke about the bilateral inter-state relations and co-operation and underlined the weighty input in their advancement from the relations between the two states’ leaders.
Being a country holding the reformatory positions amongst the highest in global rating lists, Azerbaijan continues the reforms with a view to continued progress of its economy as well as the investment and business environments. As he was telling the guests of those reforms, Mr Mirkishili touched on the relevant scope of work befalling the sixth-convention Milli Majlis.
The new co-operation opportunities created in the region with Azerbaijan’s victory and termination of the Armenian occupation of the Azerbaijani lands in the Patriotic War were mentioned as well. Besides, Mr Mirkishili told the Uzbek guests of the large-scale building work afoot in those provinces and of the restoration of the communications. He went further to voice certain ideas about Uzbekistan possibly taking part in this work.
Director of the of the Economic Research and Reforms Centre under the auspices of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan Obid Hakimov introduced his organisation and told about the economic growth objectives of Uzbekistan and the run-up to the second stage of reforms. The purpose of the delegation’s arrival in Baku consists in learning closely the Azerbaijani model of economic growth and considering co-operation prospects, according to Mr Hakimov.
Deputy Chairman of the Milli Majlis Economic Policy, Industries and Enterprising Committee Ali Masimli and the committee members Rufat Guliyev, Elnur Allahverdiyev and Mazahir Efendiyev shared their views of increasing the volume of the bilateral trade, co-operating in various economic sectors but especially in agriculture, working on the projects undertaken in the de-occupied lands together and other matters.
There was also an exchange of opinions about other subjects of shared interest during the meeting.
