Deputy Chair of Milli Majlis Adil Aliyev Meets Head of ATUG of Republic of Moldova
Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis/chairman of the parliamentary Youth and Sports Committee Adil Aliyev received on 4 November the visiting delegation led by Irina Vlah, the governor of the Autonomous Territorial Unit Gagauzia of the Republic of Moldova.
Mr Aliyev welcomed the guests and praised their arrival in our country exactly when we were celebrating the Victory Day that is of immense historical importance for Azerbaijan. As regards the Azerbaijani-Moldovan relations, they are advancing dynamically and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation having had a 650-pupil school built in Gagauzia was one of the manifestations of our friendly ties, Mr Aliyev was saying. He also recalled his travel to Moldova to monitor the elections there and the meetings at the Moldovan Parliament held during that trip in 2020. Expansion of the inter-parliamentary co-operation is bound to contribute to the development of the relations between Azerbaijan and Moldova, in the opinion of Mr Aliyev.
Next, the Deputy Speaker told the guests about how Azerbaijan had disrupted the thirty-year-old Armenian capture of its lands in the 44 days’ Patriotic War and, consequently, created a new reality and new economic opportunities in the region. Our countries had spent many years striving to resolve that conflict peacefully whereas Armenia had been making provocations, undermining the process of negotiations and dragging its feet on the settlement in every way conceivable. At the long last, yet another enemy provocation was met with a counter-offensive in which the glorious Azerbaijani Army led by President and Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev vanquished the enemy troops and made our national territory whole again.
As the conversation went on, Adil Aliyev also put the guests completely in the picture of the Khojali Genocide of the Azerbaijani people committed by Armenia.
The Gagauzia Başkan Mrs Irina Vlah thanked for the kind reception and spoke of our budding relations’ usefulness for both nations. She congratulated Azerbaijan on its historic Victory and underlined the importance of reciprocal visits for the progress of the bilateral connexions.
The leader of the Milli Majlis Working Group for the Azerbaijan-Moldova inter-parliamentary relations Sabir Hajiyev who was present at that meeting, too, broached the significance of such visits and expressed his joy at the opportunity to welcome our friends in Azerbaijan on the anniversary of our historic Victory.
There was also an exchange of views upon other topics of interest to both parties.
