At the Meeting of the EuroNest PA Bureau
The co-chairmen of the ‘EuroNest’ Parliamentary Assembly Andrius Kubilius and Maka Bochorishvili moderated the remote meeting of the PA Bureau held on 2 December.
First, the agenda of the meeting and the meeting of the previous Bureau meeting held on 27 September 2021 were approved. Then, the leaders of the Eastern Partnership participating states’ delegations talked about the political and economic developments in their countries, the COVID-19 pandemic, the current state of affairs with the vaccination and regional security issues.
As for the leader of the Azerbaijani delegation to the ‘EuroNest’ Azer Karimli, he responded to the speech by the representative of Armenia by telling the assembly of the borderline provocations of the Armenian side and of the meeting of the Azerbaijani and Russian presidents and Armenia’s prime-minister in Sochi on 26 November as well as the statement adopted at that meeting. Also, Mr Karimli stressed that Azerbaijan was full of resolve to integrate, politically, socially and economically, its citizens of the Armenian extraction who live in the conflict-stricken Azerbaijani territories – and regardless of their ethnic and religious backgrounds, too. The Azerbaijani envoy also told about the inauguration meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network held in Madrid on 28 November and the Madrid Declaration adopted there.
Armenia attempted to have amendments aimed against Azerbaijan included in the text of the ‘EuroNest’ PA Bureau’s message to the Eastern Partnership Summit as the draft was being discussed. That attempt failed due to the categorical protestation of the Azerbaijani side.
In conclusion of the meeting, the ‘EuroNest’ PA Co-Chairman Andrius Kubilius announced that the next meeting had been scheduled to take place in February next year.
