The visiting delegation led by Dmitry Kobitsky, Head of the Secretariat of the Council of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly/Secretary General of the organisation, visited the burial site of the great leader Heydar Aliyev and the Martyrs’ Lane on 6 December.

Having arrived at the Alley of Honour first, the delegation members paid tribute to the memory of our national leader, the architect and builder of the modern Azerbaijani State Heydar Aliyev. They adorned his tombstone with live flowers.

They also paid their respects to the memory of the outstanding ophthalmic researcher Zarifa Aliyeva; her graveside, too, was decorated with fresh flowers.

Then, the visitors to our capital city travelled to the Martyrs’ Alley to honour the memory of the heroes who had given their lives up for the freedom and sovereignty of their Motherland. The martyrs’ gravesides were decorated with fresh flowers. The delegation also put flowers at the Eternal Flame Memorial.

As the delegation members were marvelling at the cityscape from the highest point of Baku, they were told of the history of the Martyrs’ Lane and of the amenity and building work going on around the capital of Azerbaijan.
