A Meeting at Milli Majlis
Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee for International and Inter-Parliamentary Relations Samad Seyidov had a meeting with the ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway Erling Skjønsberg.
Mr Seyidov talked about the status of the bilateral relations, the co-operation that encompasses diverse areas and the workings of the Milli Majlis. He touched on the significance of the inter-parliamentary co-operation and proceeded to brief Mr Skjønsberg on the reforms afoot in all the areas in our country and on the streamlining of the legislation that constitutes the reforms’ legal framework.
It was said then that the President of the Azerbaijan Republic Mr Ilham Aliyev, currently in Brussels on an official visit, had had several high-level meetings there, among them such important encounters as those with the NATO Secretary General Yens Stoltenberg and the President of France Emmanuel Macron. Besides, the president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev discussed in detail restoration of communications and transport arteries at the trilateral with the president of the EU Council Charles Michel and the prime minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
The Norwegian ambassador was told that we had ourselves recovered our lands after almost thirty years of occupation thus giving birth to a new reality in the region, whereas right now we are busy restoring and rebuilding the liberated provinces.
As for delimitation and demarcation of Azerbaijan’s borders with Armenia, a peace treaty needs to be signed for all the communication lines to be unblocked, Samad Seyidov emphasised.
The ambassador of Norway to Azerbaijan Erling Skjønsberg pointed at the fruitfulness of President Ilham Aliyev’s meeting with the NATO Secretary General, touched on the trilateral meeting held in Brussels and underlined the importance of the work done by the special representatives appointed to remedy relations between Turkey and Armenia. The Norwegian diplomat also pointed out the importance that his country attaches to comprehensive co-operation with Azerbaijan.
Broadening relations in various areas, inter-parliamentary co-operation prospects and other points of shared interest were broached during the conversation as well.
