MP Naghif Hamzayev Visits a Shahid Graveside in Ganja

The birthday of a Patriotic War shahid Ogtay Namig oglu Mammadov has been marked in Ganja.

MP Naghif Hamzayev, the functionaries of the Ganja City branch of the New Azerbaijan Party, members of the fallen warrior’s family and the local public arrived at the Martyrs’ Lane in the city to pay respects to the hero’s memory and adorn his gravestone with fresh flowers.

There was a minute of silence in memorial of all our shahids who had parted with their lives in the name of Azerbaijan’s integrity. The assembled talked about Ogtay Mammadov’s combat path, about his bravery and heroism.

MP Naghif Hamzayev, in turn, said that Ogtay, who had turned 27, and the other patriotic youth of Azerbaijan had fought the enemy valiantly at the Patriotic War and had laid their lives down for the freedom of our lands. MP Hamzayev spoke with pride of their courage, resolve and adamancy on the fronts of that war. The law-maker also brought up the significance of the brilliant victory that our triumphant Army had gained under the generalship of the President and Commander-in-Chief of Azerbaijan, the great warlord Ilham Aliyev. The shahids’ precious memories will live in our hearts forever, MP Hamzayev added.

The ceremony participants also decorated with flowers the gravesides of the other shahids.

Ogtay Namig oglu Mammadov was born in Ganja on 1 January 1994. He had fought in the battles for Fuzuli Province and the town of Shusha, and died a hero’s death in the engagement on the Khankendi front on 8 November 2020.

Ogtay Namig oglu Mammadov is decorated with the medals ‘For the Motherland’, ‘Valiant Warrior’ and ‘For Liberation of Shusha’ posthumously pursuant to the relevant decrees of the president of the Azerbaijan Republic.
