MP Kamal Jafarov met in the Sabirabad Province with the family of the shahid Firavan Khanbala oglu Asgarov who had taken part in the uphill fighting for the Talish and Sugovushan elevations and won the famous ‘Koroglu Post’ from the enemy starting from the very first day of the Patriotic War.

As one of the servicemen of the 17-strong detachment given a special night-time mission by the command on 20 October, Asgarov and his comrades had taken a vantage point in the course of the operation for liberation of Hadrut. Two members of the detachment including Firavan were given a reconnaissance order so as to locate enemy positions. However, they came face to face with the enemy and had to engage them at close quarters. Firavan personally destroyed more than ten enemy privates and officers in the hand-to-hand encounter but it still proved his last: downed with a grave bullet wound, he rose to the summits of the Shahidism eventually.

Firavan Asgarov was decorated with the medals ‘For Military Merit’, ‘For the Motherland’, ‘For Liberation of Jabrayil’ and ‘For Liberation of Fuzuli’ for his heroism in battle.

Returning to the meeting with the hero’s family, Kamal Jafarov heard them out regarding their concerns and difficulties. Then, MP Jafarov joined them in visiting the graveside of Firavan Asgarov, which they adorned with flowers. Prayers were said for the soul of the fallen fighter.
