There was a meeting on 1 November of the Milli Majlis Working Group for the Azerbaijan-Estonia inter-parliamentary connexions with the visiting delegation led by the chairman of the Estonia-Azerbaijan group of the Estonian parliament Sven Sester.

The leader of the said Azerbaijani group Jala Ahmadova welcomed the guests and said she was glad to see them at the Milli Majlis. She then touched on the bilateral relations and emphasised the importance of achieving yet closer ties with the parliament of Estonia.

Mr Sester said his thanks for the excellent hospitality that he and his delegation had been enjoying before he praised the relations and the inter-parliamentary co-operation with Azerbaijan.

Further, the parliamentarians were talking about the new co-operation opportunities that had emerged in our region, Azerbaijan’s initiatives to foster the region’s evolution, the large-scale restoration and building work in progress in the Azerbaijani lands delivered from the occupiers and the potential to boost the volume of trade between Azerbaijan and Estonia.

The chairman of the Milli Majlis Labour and Social Policy Committee Musa Guliyev who is also the helmsman of the above-mentioned Azerbaijan-Estonia Group told the guests about the 30-year-long Armenian occupation of the Azerbaijani lands, the futility of the peace talks conducted under the auspices of the Minsk Group and Azerbaijan de-occupied its own lands in line with the well-known four resolutions of the UN Security Council on seeing that every opportunity had been exhausted to find a peaceful settlement. And Azerbaijan had enforced those resolutions all by itself, too, Mr Guliyev stressed.

Nizami Safarov of the Azerbaijan-Estonia Group brought up the smear campaigns that Armenia launches against Azerbaijan on various international platforms. Besides, Mr Safarov presented the guests with the proof of Armenia slandering Azerbaijan and characterised that slander from the viewpoint of the international law.

Then, the deputy chairman of the Estonia-Azerbaijan Group Mikhail Korb and the Azerbaijani ambassador in Tallinn Anar Maharramov talked about the future of the bilateral co-operation.
