The 2017-2020 National Economy and Staple Sectors Strategic Roadmaps Monitoring and Assessment Report is Discussed at Milli Majlis
The monitoring and assessment report on the Strategic Roadmaps for the National Economy and its Staple Sectors for the years 2017-2020 was discussed at the event co-organised by the parliamentary committees for Economic Policy, Industries and Enterprising, and for Agrarian Policy jointly with the republican Economic Reforms Analysis and Communication Centre on 23 December.
First, the chairman of the Economic Policy, Industries and Enterprising Committee Tahir Mirkishili underlined the substantial contribution of the document at issue to the deepening of the economic reforms, development of economic operators, expansion of the activities of micro-businesses and SMEs and, last but not least, the increase in the competitiveness of various sectors of the national economy during 2016-2021. This strategic roadmap also envisages a continued development of competitiveness in the period until 2025, Mr Mirkishili added.
In turn, the chairman of the Agrarian Policy Committee Tahir Rzayev commended on the roadmap’s favourable impact on the achievement of the long-term growth goals in agriculture and the outcomes of reaching those goals.
The executive director of the Centre Vusal Gasimli submitted the monitoring and assessment report on the Strategic Roadmaps for the National Economy and its Staple Sectors for the years 2017-2020 for consideration of the House then.
The successful implementation of the roadmap had prepared the ground for securing the real average annual GDP growth by more than 3 per cent until 2025. Specifically, the real growth of the GDP will be by 5.1 per cent with the non-oil GDP real growth to hit 6.0 per cent this year whereas a 3.9 per cent economic growth is forecast for next year, according to Mr Gasimli. The fact that the non-oil exports have reached USD 260 per capita this year as against USD 170 in 2015 gives a sound enough reason to believe that the goal of USD 450 set for 2025 is feasible. Meanwhile, the Government has prepared and submitted to the appropriate departments the national socio-economic development strategy for the years 202-2026 together with the appropriation action plan, Mr Gasimli continued.
As deliberations ensued, opinions and comments were put forward by the deputy chairman of the Economic Policy, Industries and Enterprising Committee Ali Masimli and the MPs Vahid Ahmadov, Mahir Abbaszade, Aydin Huseynov, Mazahir Efendiyev and Mushfig Jafarov.
