At the Meeting of the Regional Affairs Committee
The Milli Majlis Committee for Regional Affairs had a virtual meeting on 3 November.
The committee chairman Siyavush Novruzov announced that in a few days, on the 8th of November, to be precise, Azerbaijan would be celebrating for the first time the Victory Day, the day of the glorious triumph it achieved in the 44 days’ Patriotic War. Mr Novruzov asked that the Almighty rest merry the souls of the warriors fallen for the Victory and grant good health to the gazies. As he spoke about the victory factors, Siyavush Novruzov underscored the unity of the nation and its army, their solidarity making them one first, one whole by the true leader, Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev.
Next, the draft amendments to the Local (Municipal) Taxes and Fees Law were tabled in the first reading. The committee chairman explained that the document would equalise with the state taxes the local ones that are paid to municipality budgets for construction materials of vicinal nature (brick and ceramide clays, construction sand and unprocessed gravel).
The committee members Mazahir Efendiyev, Kamran Bayramov, Javid Osmanov and Sattar Mehbaliyev commented on the Bill. They said that it had been drawn up in line with the draft amendments to the Tax Code discussed in the Milli Majlis currently. The municipalities experience difficulties collecting the local taxes. Especially, the MPs added, this particular tax was collected in negligible amounts, so, it is commendable that its collection would be made the task of the tax authorities.
It was recommended that the Bill should be brought before the Milli Majlis in the first reading at the next plenum.
The deputy chairman of the committee Elshan Musayev and the member-MPs Nizami Jafarov, Emin Hajiyev, Malik Hasanov, Sabina Khasayeva, Aghil Mammadov, Tahir Rzayev and Aliabbas Salahzade as well as other officials were taking part in the meeting as well.
