An event celebrating the Victory Day took place in the Nizami District of Baku with the participation of the MPs Sadagat Valiyeva, Konul Nurullayeva and Rasim Musabeyov as well as shahid families, gazies and the general public.

The festive ceremony began with the opening of the Shahids’ Spring built in memoriam the brave ones who laid their lives down for freeing their native land from the invaders.

Then, the procession moved into the Nizami District’s Martyrs’ Alley where the national anthem of the Azerbaijan Republic was sounded and the fallen warriors were honoured with a minute of silence. That was followed by a video about the shahids who used to live in this part of the capital city.

The speakers at the event addressed the remarkable Victory won in only 44 days thanks to the adamancy of President, victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the might of our Army and the solidarity of the nation that had rolled up into one iron fist and came out of the crucible of war a victorious nation. Each day of the war had become a separate tale of heroism. We are celebrating this brilliant Victory as the immensely proud citizens of our triumphant state. Azerbaijan’s operation The Iron Fist had echoed around the world, they said. Our native lands had been purged of the vile enemies at the cost of the shahids’ lives and the gazies’ blood, they said.

The ceremony participants adorned the shahids’ gravestones with flowers, paid their respects and said prayers for their souls.

The attending shahid families and gazies once again expressed their pleasure with the care with which the victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva had embraced them.
