A Meeting with Iraqi Delegation at Milli Majlis
Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee for International and Inter-Parliamentary Relations Samad Seyidov met with the visiting Iraqi delegation led by Iraq’s Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Nazar Al-Khairullah on 10 February.
Having welcomed the guests, Samad Seyidov talked about the historical and cultural values binding our nations, pointed at the currently high level of the Azerbaijani-Iraqi political relations and thanked the Iraqi side for Iraq’s supportive attitude to Azerbaijan under the aegis of international organisations.
There is a vast potential to grow the bilateral economic connexions and increase the volume of trade, too, according to Mr Seyidov.
The inter-parliamentary relations between our countries were brought up then. The parliamentary committee chairman underlined the contribution to intensifying those relations that is made by the international relations committee and the working group for inter-parliamentary connexions with Iraq alike.
MP Anar Isgandarov, a member of the said group, talked about the ancient histories of our nations and of the common moral values. He also wished the newly-elected Iraqi parliament success.
Nazar Isa Abdulhadi Al-Khairullah expressed the gratitude for the warm reception given to him and his delegation before stressing the friendship and brotherhood of our states and telling the Azerbaijani side of the make-up of the Iraqi legislative bodies in the wake of the recent extraordinary parliamentary elections conducted in his country. Iraq is interested in furthering its relations with Azerbaijan diversely but especially so in the economic field, according to Mr Al-Khairullah.
The relationship growth prospects and other matters of mutual interest were talked over, too, as the conversation drew on.
Azerbaijan’s Charge d’Affaires in the Republic of Iraq Nasir Mammadov, his Iraqi colleague in the Azerbaijan Republic Maki Ressan Al-Mamori and other officials took part in the meeting as well.
