The Patriotic War Shahid Namig Ilyas oglu Khalilov Memory Day in Shirvan Town

A memory day of the Patriotic War shahid, the Special Designation Force’s Warrant Officer Namig Ilyas oglu Khalilov, was organised in the town of Shirvan on 18 October.

The event was attended by MP Iltizam Yusifov, the head of the Shirvan Town executive authority Ilgar Abbasov, heads of the local state authorities and organisations, the shahid family’s members, his companions in arms and the local public. They decorated his graveside in the local Martyrs’ Alley with flowers and paid respects to his memory.

Namig who made his input in the victory and the other patriotism-instilled heroes like him are the source of pride in every Azerbaijani’s soul while Namig’s combat path, with his glorious name inscribed in our history, is an example for our youth, said the ceremony participants.

Such sons of the Motherland as Namig is discharged their combat duties gloriously in the Patriotic War that was waged under the leadership of Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev; they will never ever be forgotten, according to MP Yusifov.

Next, they went to the shahid Namig Khalilov memorial. They talked about his life and battle history and about Namig Khalilov having been decorated with the medals ‘For the Motherland’, ‘For Military Service’, ‘For Liberation of Kalbajar’, ‘For Liberation of Jabrayil’ and ‘For Liberation of Khojavend’ posthumously for his bravery at the Patriotic War.

The shahid’s father Ilyas Khalilov spoke at the end of the commemoration ceremony to thank President/Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyev for the care they are taking of the shahid families.
