He addressed the heroism of our courageous soldiers on the battlefields of the Patriotic War that had been waged under the leadership of President and the victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev to rid the Azerbaijani soil of the Armenian invaders. The repeated territorial claims of Armenia to our state had breached the international legal norms rudely and the declarations of the international institutions had but remained on paper till, in the Patriotic War, our country made its national territory whole again and restored its sovereignty all by itself, Mr Aliyev continued.

He also talked about the state care taken of the shahid families and the deepest public respect for the shahids who will never ever be forgotten.

At the end of the event, the shahid family members thanked President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva for the care being taken of those people.

Junior Sergeant Akbar Guliyev had taken part in the Patriotic War battles on the Murovdag front and was killed in action on 27 September. His remains were recovered a long while after and were interred in the Martyrs’ Lane II in Baku on 16 February 2021.
