All the speakers at the meeting held remotely in the videoconferencing mode talked about the glorious page in our history written by the 2020 autumn session of the Parliament. Referring to the liberation by the valiant Azerbaijani Army led by the victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev of the formerly-occupied provinces during the 44-day war, they stressed that both the leaders and the members of the Milli Majlis were tirelessly informing the international community of the current situation and of the provocations of Armenia against the peaceful population of Azerbaijan in that period. They were active in the social networks and the mass media, and sent a number of appeals to other countries’ parliaments.
It was mentioned, as the 2020 autumn session performance report of the Committee was tabled, that, among other things, the Committee had been supporting the action against the coronavirus and was holding its meetings online. The Committee had the total of 13 meetings including 9 online ones; 27 matters were discussed and 25 Bills were recommended for submission at the Parliament’s plenary sittings and were enacted by it ultimately.
It is emphasised in the period report that online contacts and e-applications were promoted in lieu of the usual reception of citizens in order to prevent a further spread of the coronavirus infection around the country. Besides, consideration of the period’s appeals and complaints and taking appropriate actions on them were both handled with utmost sensitivity.
Chairman of the Regional Affairs Committee Siyavush Novruzov drew the meeting participants’ attention to that the Committee had received and processed almost 600 applications as well as to the fact that all the appeals and letters were answered in a timely manner. Besides, it was mentioned that the MPs had been reporting on their interaction with citizens in general and with their constituents at the committee meetings.
Talking about the work plan for the 2021 spring session then, the Committee Chairman said that it encompassed the intended legislative work as well as the thematically diverse undertakings alike. Mr Novruzov added that it would be expedient to conduct parliamentary hearings involving the leaders of the National Associations of Municipalities and young as well as female municipality chairs during the spring session.
Deputy Chairman of the Committee Elshan Musayev and the MPs Tahir Rzayev, Kamran Bayramov, Aghil Mammadov, Sattar Mehbaliyev and Javid Osmanov spoke about the important jobs that the Committee had fulfilled during the autumn session. The past period was very fruitful, in their shared opinion. Several ideas about the spring-session work plan were voiced then.
In the end, the report was approved and adopted complete with the proposals made regarding it. It was recommended also that the matters discussed by the Committee be tabled for deliberations at a plenary sitting of the Parliament.
The Committee Members Malik Hasanov, Nizami Jafarov, Emin Hajiyev, Mazahir Efendiyev, Aliabbas Salahzade and Sabina Khasayeva took part in the meeting as well.
