Chairman of Moldovan Parliament Goes to Great Leader’s Tomb, Visits Martyrs’ Lane

The chairman of the Moldovan parliament Igor Grosu and the delegation he leads have gone to the Alley of Honour and the Martyrs’ Lane as part of their current visit in Azerbaijan on 22 February.

In the Alley of Honour, the Moldovan delegation honoured the memory of the national leader, the architect and builder of the modern Azerbaijani State Heydar Aliyev. They adorned his tombstone with fresh flowers and put down a wreath before it.

Whilst there, they also commemorated the outstanding ophthalmology researcher Academician Zarifa Aliyeva. Her tombstone, too, was covered in fresh flowers.

Also, the Moldovan guests went to the Martyrs’ Lane in the company of First Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis Ali Huseynli and the leader of the working group for the inter-parliamentary connexions with Moldova Sabir Hajiyev. Upon arrival, they paid their respects to the memory of the heroic sons of the Motherland who had laid down their lives for her freedom and sovereignty. The gravestones were decorated with fresh flowers. A wreath was put at the Eternal Flame Memorial.

The Moldovan delegation members marvelled at the cityscape sprawling before their eyes from the highest elevation of Baku, they were told of the history of the Martyrs’ lane and the building and arrangement work going on around the capital city of Azerbaijan.
