First Deputy Chair of Milli Majlis Ali Huseynov Joins Commemoration of MMA World Champion, shahid Kamil Salahov in Yevlakh
First Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis Ali Huseynli and MP Ilham Mammadov took part in the ceremony of commemoration of the shahid Kamil Matlab oglu Salahov in the settlement of Aran of the Yevlakh Province alongside the local public, the Aran dwellers and shahid families.
The participants of the ceremony paid their deepest respects to the memory of Kamil Salahov who had parted with his life at the age of 22. They talked about our compatriot’s path of life, sporting career and heroism in the pitch battles for the integrity of his Motherland.
Into various sports from the very tender age, modest by nature, Kamil is five times the MMA champion of Azerbaijan. He also won at tournaments in Georgia and Turkey and became Youth MMA World Champion in Iran in 2012.
Kamil Salahov was at the forefront from the very first days of the Patriotic War that was a vivid manifestation of the national unity and the people’s undefeatable spirit. He demonstrated valour and self-sacrifice in the battles for Talish and Sugovushan. Never counting the cost of his life in the struggle to evict the invaders from our lands, having fought through nine enemy posts, the hero was taken down by a sniper’s bullet whilst trying to save a wounded comrade in the combat for Sugovushan on 28 September.
Kamil Matlab oglu Salahov was decorated with the medals ‘For Liberation of Sugovushan’, ‘For the Motherland’ and ‘Valiant Warrior’ posthumously to the relevant decrees of President Ilham Aliyev.
Going back to the commemoration, our MPs enquired after the cares of the shahid families and said that the only child of Kamil’s, now left in the care of his Motherland, would forever be embraced with the state attention.
Ali Huseynli emphasised the unique importance for the Azerbaijani state and statehood of the triumph celebrated in the 44 days’ Patriotic War with the leadership of the victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. The memory of those who made the world know us as a prevailing nation would be cherished and venerated for centuries on end, Mr Huseynli added.
