The Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic-Speaking Countries has released a statement on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Khojali Genocide to witness veneration of the memory of the victims of the one of the bloodiest crimes in human history and to express condolences to the people of Azerbaijan.

The attack of the Armenian armed forces upon the Azerbaijani town of Khojali on the night of 25/26 February 1992 culminated in an unheard-of massacre: hundreds of innocent townspeople including old persons, women and children were either exterminated or captured eventually. Such an outrage went down in history as one of the cruellest and most inhumane crimes; the victims of the Khojali Massacre are not forgotten even though many years have passed since that moribund date.

Further, the TurkPA statement voices the Assembly’s support to the Azerbaijani Government over the ‘Justice for Khojali’ international enlightenment campaign.

It is said also that Azerbaijan recovered its lands occupied by Armenia previously, gained a glorious victory and restored historical justice following the 44 days’ Patriotic War. A source of pride for the whole Turkic World, that outstanding victory came as a vivid manifestation of the Azerbaijani people’s determination to overcome the enemy and prevail.
