Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis/chairman of the Youth and Sports Committee Adil Aliyev joined a memorial event dedicated to the 13 shahids, former servicemen of the Legendary Tabor of the Special Designation Forces of the Defence Ministry on 14 March.

The national anthem of the Azerbaijan Republic was sounded and then Mr Aliyev and the shahid families, gazies and members of the public had a moment of silence in memoriam. A video about our heroes was shown, and detailed accounts of the fallen heroes’ paths of combat were delivered at the start of the event.

Adil Aliyev talked about the unparalleled triumph that the courageous Azerbaijani Army led by the victorious Commander-in-Chief Mr Ilham Aliyev had gained over the enemy, that the foe had been defeated in only 44 days. Armenia had been blinking at the relevant decisions of a number of international organisations, amongst them the four resolutions of the UN. And, at the long last, the Azerbaijani warriors set foot on the battlefield. Their courage and the military as well as diplomatic resolve of the Head of State had led to Armenia’s crushing defeat on the battlefield. Armenia was down for the count and had to sign a surrender act. Our people will never ever forget the heroes who brought it this historic victory, in the opinion of Vice Speaker Aliyev.

The shahid parents reminisced about their sons. Prayers were said for the shahids’ souls.

In the end, the shahid families and the gazies thanked President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva for the caring attitude to them.
