A Meeting at Milli Majlis

Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis Labour and Social Policy Committee, head of the Azerbaijan-Serbia Inter-Parliamentary Connexions Working Group Malahat Ibrahimghizi had a meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to our country Dragan Vladisavljevic on 16 March.

Mrs Ibrahimghizi followed her greetings to the guest by an account of the friendly ties and strategic partnership binding Azerbaijan and Serbia together. She cast a glance over the establishment history of the bilateral diplomatic relations and said that Serbia always supported the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

The efforts made by the leaders of the two states have brought forth the political relationship that is setting high standards. Azerbaijan, in its turn, too, supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia and acts upon this stance precisely on all the international platforms, according to Mrs Ibrahimghizi.

She went on to mention Azerbaijan’s contribution to international co-operation and the emergence of the Non-Aligned Movement’s Parliamentary and Youth networks pursuant to the initiative of the president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. As for the Azerbaijani-Serbian relations, they are advancing in diverse areas including in the inter-parliamentary one, Mrs Ibrahimghizi continued.

Chairman of the Disciplinary Commission of the Milli Majlis and member of the aforementioned Azerbaijan-Serbia WG Eldar Ibrahimov, in turn, said he was glad to see Mr Vladisavljevic in the Azerbaijani parliament, and reiterated his unvaried readiness to help promote the progress of the Azerbaijani-Serbian relations.

MP Eldar Ibrahimov talked about the fruitful bilateral interaction in the international organisations, the history of the inter-parliamentary connexions and the importance of mutual visits. He wished the Serbian ambassador every success then.

Ambassador Dragan Vladisavljevic expressed his gratitude for the sincere welcome and mentioned with pleasure the kind and friendly attitude he had met with in Azerbaijan. As well as that, he recalled that the bilateral diplomatic relations had turned 25 years. The Serbian ambassador underlined the importance of intensifying the two-way relations in various areas but especially so between the parliaments of Azerbaijan and Serbia. Mr Vladisavljevic also talked about the opportunities to foster business connexions.

There was an exchange of opinions about co-operation prospects during the conversation.
