Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis, chairman of the Public Associations and Religious Entities Committee Fazail Ibrahimli had a meeting with the visiting delegation of the National Assembly of Pakistan on 18 March.

The Vice Speaker told the guests that he was glad to welcome them at the Milli Majlis on the thirtieth anniversary of the Azerbaijani-Pakistani diplomatic relations. Mr Ibrahimli then turned to the independence history of Azerbaijan and thanked the Pakistani side for their backing given to Azerbaijan at the time of the 44 days’ Patriotic War.

Mr Ibrahimli underlined the importance of the first Trilateral meeting of the chairs of the parliaments of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Pakistan held in Baku. Such a format serves the goal of furthering the partnership of the fraternal countries, in his opinion.

The leader of the delegation of the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Sadagat Ali Abbas thanked for the meeting, passed on the greetings from the leader of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser and congratulated Mr Ibrahimli on the Novruz Bayram. Then, the Pakistani MP shared his thoughts about the development of the bilateral relations and the intensification of the co-operation in every field.

The ambassador of Pakistan to Azerbaijan Bilal Hayee, the chairman of the Economic Affairs Committee of the National Assembly Khan Muhammad Jamali and the Pakistani parliamentarians Saifi Gazala, Fozia Behram, Said Khan and Khan Zulfiqar Ali voiced their appreciation of the hospitality they had been met with. They congratulated the Azerbaijani side on the Novruz Bayram and said that they were glad of the economic advance and overall progress they had seen in Azerbaijan. Besides, the Pakistani law-makers talked about continuing the bilateral relations’ growth.

The chair of the Milli Majlis Culture Committee and head of the Azerbaijan-Pakistan inter-parliamentary connexions working group Ganira Pashayeva, the chairman of the Milli Majlis Economic Policy, Industries and Enterprising Committee Tahir Mirkishili, the MPs Kamaladdin Jafarov and Ilham Mammadov and other officials were taking part in the meeting as well.
