Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova had a meeting with Chairman of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament Maulen Ashimbayev on 28 March as part of the current working trip to the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Mr Ashimbayev followed the greetings to the Chair of the Milli Majlis up with saying that his country thought it very important to further its relations with Azerbaijan and that Azerbaijan was a very significant and dependable partner to Kazakhstan. Our nations, Mr Ashimbayev continued, were brought together by the similar historical paths covered by them whilst their relations had made a leap in progress during the years of independence.

The legislatures of the two states have the parts of their own in the advancement of the bilateral relations. The progress of the inter-parliamentary connexions is of utmost importance in light of the need to discuss such matters as arouse interest on both sides.

Once again, the leader of the Kazakhstan Senate offered his congratulations on the glorious victory won in the Patriotic War thanks to the political will and resolve of the president of Azerbaijan Mr Ilham Aliyev as well as on the restored territorial wholeness of our country. That was the victory of the Turkic World at large, Mr Ashimbayev emphasised before assuring Mrs Gafarova of Kazakhstan’s preparedness to assist in every way with the restoration of the de-occupied Azerbaijani provinces.

Maulen Ashimbayev briefed Sahiba Gafarova on the tragic events that occurred in his country in January this year. He thanked the people of Azerbaijan for the support extended to Kazakhstan then.

In turn, Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova expressed her appreciation of the hospitality extended by the Kazakh side, recalled her previous conversations with Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev and said that their negotiations had brought to the table their own input in the intensification of the bonds amongst the two legislatures which, incidentally, are bridging their countries and set high standards for their own interaction. There are extensive opportunities to make the mutually advantageous co-operation between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan yet more in-depth and robust; such opportunities are provided by the TurkPA in which, too, there is a strong bilateral interaction going, according to Mrs Gafarova.

Our nations are united by the common history and culture and the shared fundamental morals. The relationship has become more animated during the independence years; there is a powerful legal framework with which to take them further now.

Sahiba Gafarova told Maulen Ashimbayev about Azerbaijan’s victory in the 44 days’ Patriotic War and the new reality that victory had brought to our region next. Azerbaijan had made its national territory intact again and had eliminated the very fact of occupation precisely due to the triumphant conclusion of the war, Mrs Gafarova pointed out. There is no conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan anymore. Our country is busy repairing its lands rid of the invaders currently.

The leader of the Milli Majlis stressed that Azerbaijan wished inviolable peace and constant stability in our region. Our country respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of any country at all and expects reciprocity in this context.

Meanwhile, Armenia continues making provocations. Whilst Item IV of the well-known Trilateral Statement obligates Armenia to pull the remaining shards of its army and the illegal Armenian armed formations from the Azerbaijani territory completely, Armenia lamentably has not done so to date. Quite on the contrary, and equally execrably, members of the unlawful Armenian armed groups have been staging more frequent provocations aimed at the units of the Azerbaijani Army of late. Well, Armenia really should take in the new reality established in the region and do its part when it comes to the obligations to maintain regional peace and stability, Mrs Gafarova continued.

The tragic occurrences in Kazakhstan in January 2022 were followed with alarm in Azerbaijan, too, according to Sahiba Gafarova who went on to say with conviction that those deplorable events had been left in the past and that the people of Kazakhstan would overcome all difficulties and challenges.

There was also an exchange of opinions about the topics of concern and interest to both parties as the conversation drew on.
