Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has responded to the claims made by the speaker of the Armenian parliament Alain Simonyan at the meeting of the CIS IPA Council meeting in Almaty in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

A. Simonyan who spoke after the Chair of the Milli Majlis alleged violation of the ceasefire by Azerbaijan. The leader of the Azerbaijani parliament Sahiba Gafarova had the floor again to insist that the Armenian speaker’s assertion was untrue. The Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan had announced the current concretisation of positions and deployment points in Garabagh as the sovereign territory of our country. Even so, members of unlawful Armenian armed groups attempted a provocation against detachments of the Azerbaijani Army in the small hours of 26 March. The immediate counteraction apprehended that attempt; the members of the said unlawful formations had to fall back eventually.

The Chair of the Milli Majlis reiterated Azerbaijan’s adherence to the Trilateral Statement of 10 November 2020 according to Item IV of which, incidentally, Armenia was supposed to pull the remnants of its troops as well as the equally Armenian unlawful armed bands entirely from the Azerbaijani territory. But that has not been done. Consequently, it is Armenia herself and not Azerbaijan that violates the statement in point.

Madame Speaker continued to say that there was no territorial unit called ‘Nagorno Karabakh’. Azerbaijan has given over to Armenia all the POWs in compliance with the already-mentioned trilateral statement. Those Armenian armed detachments that have been infiltrating the territory of Azerbaijan following the signing date of that document being 10 November are not deemed POWs in accordance with the Geneva Convention.

Sahiba Gafarova repeated that Azerbaijan had sent Armenia a five-point document related to normalisation of the relations and was waiting for the adverse party’s answer to that.
