MP Azay Guliyev who is also helming the Working Group for the Azerbaijan-Romania inter-parliamentary relations had a meeting with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Romania to Azerbaijan Vasile Soare on 13 April.

Welcoming the guest, Azay Guliyev told him about the high standards the Azerbaijani-Romanian relations are setting and specified that Romania had been amongst the first states to recognise the independence of Azerbaijan. Now, there is a strategic partnership developing between the two countries; the two nations are bonded with friendship. There are sound opportunities to expand the interaction in various areas, according to MP Guliyev.

The parliaments have a special role plaid in the progress of the efficient bilateral ties; there are the friendship groups active in the legislatures of both Azerbaijan and Romania. Our MPs co-operate energetically, be it bilaterally or in international organisations. Reciprocal visits matter seriously for on-going reinforcement of the relationship.

Further, Azay Guliyev told the Romanian ambassador about Azerbaijan’s historical victory in the Patriotic War of 2020 and emphasised that our army had freed from the occupation by Armenia the Azerbaijani lands that are recognised as such internationally. As for right now, the large-scale restoration and rebuilding are afoot in those lands; infrastructure is being renovated, roads are being laid and airports built. However, that work is hampered by the fact that the Armenian invaders had mined our provinces. Besides, our servicemen and civilians alike get killed in mine blasts whereas what minefields Armenia did release are not accurate, MP Guliyev continued.

The extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Romania to the Azerbaijan Republic Vasile Soare thanked for the meeting and witnessed his country’s interest in broadening the ties with Azerbaijan – the ties that he, Mr Soare, will not spare an effort to broaden. The Romanian ambassador recalled with satisfaction the meetings he had had with Azerbaijani officials in the course of his diplomatic tenure in our country.

What else Ambassador Soare also said was that Romania thought Azerbaijan a friendly and fraternal state. It is necessary to expand the political, economic, cultural, educational and humanitarian connexions, Mr Soare continued, also highlighting the essentiality of promoting the inter-parliamentary co-operation for stronger relations, which relations had graduated to strategic partnership, incidentally.

There was an exchange of opinions about other matters of shared interest during the meeting as well
