Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis and head of the working group of inter-parliamentary connexions with Kazakhstan Adil Aliyev had a meeting with the Kazakh ambassador to our country Serjan Abdikarimov on 18 April.

The Vice Speaker broached the history of the bilateral relations, underlined the community of the values of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan and said that the long years’ friendship was going further up for the good of the two nations. Mr Aliyev also mentioned the friendship groups’ input in the progress of our inter-parliamentary relations. Recalling the visit of the Kazakh MPs to the towns of Shusha and Fuzuli then, Mr Aliyev said that during it our Kazakh colleagues had seen for themselves the destruction caused by Armenia in close to thirty years, the aftermath of vandalism and the ruins of our people’s cultural and historical heritage obliterated by the occupiers.

Our courageous army led by the president and victorious commander-in-chief Ilham Aliyev had put paid to the enemy occupation, though, having reinstated the principles of international law and restored the territorial integrity of our country long years after. A new reality has settled in across the region, according to the Vice Speaker.

Mr Aliyev went further to accentuate how inadmissible were the attempts of certain circles in Armenia to hamper the peace talks and the revanchist encroachments underpinning the separatist-terrorism regime.

Ambassador Serjan Abdikarimov spoke fondly of the continued intensification of the bilateral relations before stating the unwavering Kazakh support for the just cause of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan’s protecting the Azerbaijani interest, be it bilaterally or internationally.

Next, Mr Abdikarimov told Mr Aliyev of the decree of President Kasim-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan having decorated the latter with the Thirty Years of the Independence of Kazakhstan Medal in consideration of Mr Aliyev’s contribution to the progress of the Azerbaijani-Kazakh relations and his merit in that field. Mr Abdikarimov handed the medal to Mr Aliyev having said that.

Also, Mr Abdikarimov told Mr Aliyev that the title of the Friendship Envoy of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan had been bestowed upon the Vice Speaker for his successful work as leader of the Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan inter-parliamentary connexions working group.

Other matters of interest to both sides were talked over as the meeting drew on.
