National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s 99th Birthday Marked with a ‘History-Writing Signature’ Videoconference

A videoconference ‘The History-Writing Signature’ co-organised by the Milli Majlis Regional Affairs Committee and the National Association of Urban, Settlement and Village Municipalities took place on 4 May to mark the 99th anniversary of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

The event was attended by the members of the above-said committee and association as well as delegates of the Centre for Municipalities of the Ministry of Justice and the ‘Municipality Activity Promotion’ PA as well as the chairs of as many as 59 urban, settlement and village municipalities.

The parliamentary committee chairman Siyavush Novruzov said that the grateful nation held dear the precious memory of the Great Leader and founder of the mighty Azerbaijani State. He reminded the conference participants of this birthday of our immortal leader who had done the modern Azerbaijan unparalleled services fell to the period following the 44-day Patriotic War that made our national territory whole again.

The National Leader had waged a righteous struggle for our native lands’ liberation from the enemy’s claws. His worthy successor President Ilham Aliyev had taken that struggle further with flying colours and had had it culminate in the historic victory that was also the triumph of the policy founded by Heydar Aliyev. All the stages of the modern history of Azerbaijan and the successful socio-economic and democratic reforms undertaken in the country have been connected with the name of the genius leader ever since the 1970s.

Mr Novruzov’s deputy Elshan Musayev presented a detailed report telling about the life and work of Heydar Aliyev, whereas the committee members Emin Hajiyev and Mazahir Efendiyev took the floor to cover the subject-matter of the videoconference.

They also talked about the emergence of the self-government system under the guidance of Heydar Aliyev and the state care taken of the municipalities. Those topics were covered by the head of the Centre for Municipalities of the Ministry of Justice Rahman Mammadov, the chairman of the National Association of Urban Municipalities Tamraz Taghiyev, the chair of the Guba Municipality Humaya Mammadova and the chairman of the Bina Municipality (Baku’s Khazar District) Habil Hamidov.

The speeches and presentations were followed by discussions revolving round the subject of the conference.
