One year’s wake of the victims of the Armenian missile assaults on Barda was held on 28 October in front of the memorial plaque installed where the Armenian armed forces had committed the act of terror.

The wake was attended by Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis Adil Aliyev, the MPs Fatma Yildirim and Zahid Oruj, the chiefs of the local law-enforcement authorities and of the provincial PNA branch, heads of the Barda authorities and Barda-based enterprises and organisations, the Patriotic War shahids’ families and friends, combat gazies and members of the local public.

They had a minute of silence in memory of the terror victims; a wreath and flower bunches were put at the plaque.

Adil Aliyev was saying then how, in response to the Armenian troops’ provocations spread all along the frontline, the Azerbaijani army began a counter-offensive of 27 September 2020 that evolved into the 44 days’ Patriotic War crowned with termination of the approximately 30-year-long Armenian occupation. Thus, Azerbaijan had made its national territory whole again and had achieved a splendid triumph under the guidance of the victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. Not able to withstand the thrust of the Azerbaijani army, the Armenian military resorted to a rude violation of the international law’s principles and norms, the Geneva Convention of 1949 c/w its Additional Protocols as well as the decisions and resolutions of the UN Security Council. What they did was subject Barda, Ganja, Yevlakh, Beylagan, Agdam, Terter, Gabala, Goranboy, Agjabedi, Khizi and other towns and provinces of our country to ballistic missiles and heavy artillery fire.

Barda was missiled by the Armenian armed forces on the 5th, 8th, 27th and 28th of October and on the 7th of November, according to the MPs Fatma Yildirim and Zahid Oruj and the head of the Barda Province’s executive authority Vidadi Isayev. That terror killed 28 and wounded 108 townspeople. Tremendous damage was dealt to buildings, civil infrastructure and transport systems of the town. However, the Barda people did not lose the heart; quite on the contrary, they showed grace under pressure and united yet closer around their commander-in-chief.

There was an exposition about the Barda terror then; it included drawings and pictures telling of it.
