The 7th International Congress of Social Sciences that had begun at the ADA University was capped with a panel session in Shusha on 4 June.

The closure ceremony of the congress co-run by the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, Turkey’s Grand National Assembly, the ADA University and the International Balkan University took place in front of the Shusha Real School. Closure speeches were delivered by the ADA University Rector Ambassador Hafiz Pashayev, Ihsan Fazlıoğlu and Zehra Bilgin of the Istanbul Culture University, Rector Bünyamin Şahin of the Qazıosmanpaşa University of Tokat, Ömer Türker of the Marmara University and the Azerbaijani MP Rafael Huseynov.

Hafiz Pashayev talked about the importance of the congress being concluded nowhere else but in Shusha, the big responsibility tied to it and the event having been a sign of veneration of the shahids who had laid their lives down for the freedom of their native land. He also touched on the Azerbaijani-Turkish brotherhood and both states’ active roles in the current regional processes.

Rafael Huseynov said that the congress was one of the steps taken in the on-going development and regulation of the bilateral relations and emphasised the importance of this having been in Shusha. The Azerbaijani-Turkish fraternity had shown itself brilliantly both during the 44 days’ Patriotic War and after it, according to MP Huseynov.

The other speakers referred to the congress’ usefulness for expansion of the two-way academic links and the need to organise further scientific sessions in this format. It was said that there had been close to 70 panel discussions during the congress that had begun on 2 June.

The closing ceremony was followed by a tour of Shusha.
