A Meeting with US Congress Representatives

The Milli Majlis working group for the Azerbaijan-USA inter-parliamentary connexions and the visiting delegation of the US Congress had a meeting on 3 June.

The chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee for International and Inter-Parliamentary Relations and the above-said working group’s leader Samad Seyidov welcomed the guests and went on to talk about the Azerbaijani-US connexions and to mention with pleasure the support of the USA and the US Congress to the international projects that Azerbaijan had initiated. Also, Mr Seyidov told them about the new realia and co-operation opportunities that had sprung up in the region following the conclusion of the 44 days’ Patriotic War and about also Azerbaijan’s undertakings to bring peace and regional co-operation over.

The members of Mr Seyidov’s working group Sevinj Fataliyeva, Nigyar Arpadarai, Erkin Gadirli and Asim Mollazade shared their views upon the current regional developments and said that Azerbaijan had restored her territorial integrity with reliance on the international law. The Azerbaijani MPs also told the visitors about the restoration and rebuilding work conducted by Azerbaijan in the de-occupied lands. They stressed the need to maintain sustainable peace and security in the region, too.

The members of the US Congress Delegation Disha Banik, Will Smethers, William Christian, Troy Daigle, Sarah Temic, Ata Khan and Katherine Nichol Cloos thanked the Azerbaijan side for their hospitality and listened to the detailed answers to their questions concerning the processes current in the region.

Azerbaijan’s commitment to the international law, democracy and universal values as well as her endeavours to promote peace and regional collaboration were communicated to the American guests.
