A Meeting of Chair of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova with Chilean Ambassador to Azerbaijan
Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova told Ambassador of the Republic of Chile in our country Rodrigo Arcos as they met on 8 June that she was glad to be greeting him at the Azerbaijani legislature and that Azerbaijan and Chile co-operated bilaterally and multilaterally alike. Mrs Gafarova mentioned both countries’ membership in such an important co-operation platform as the Non-Aligned Movement happens to be as she was talking about the diplomatic relations and bilateral connexions.
The inter-parliamentary relations constitute a tremendous part of the bilateral and multilateral interaction of our countries. We are pleased that there is a friendship group for the Milli Majlis in the Senate of Chile’s Congreso Nacional and we hope that a similar group will be formed within the newly-elected Chamber of Deputies, Sahiba Gafarova was saying.
Our contacts and reciprocal visits matter because they help us get to know each other better, according to the Speaker of the Milli Majlis who proceeded to tell Mr Arcos about the activities of the Non-Aligned Movement’s Parliamentary Network, established upon the instance of the Azerbaijani side.
The 44 days’ Patriotic War, Azerbaijan’s dedication to peace and stability and our victory in that war having given birth to the new realia in our region were all talked of, too. We trust, Mrs Gafarova emphasised, that Armenia is going to honour all the duties befalling it and that a peace accord would be signed between our countries soon enough to give an added thrust to the advance of all the regional countries.
Ambassador Rodrigo Arcos remarked in response that Chile attached a great importance to furthering its relations with Azerbaijan and that promotion of our co-operation in every field accessible would prove beneficial to either side. Then, Mr Arcos told Mr Gafarova of the Chilean advocacy of the process of normalising the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The conversation also went on about the topics of a continued development of the inter-parliamentary connexions and new co-operation opportunities.
