Azerbaijan, Czech Parliamentary Friendship Groups had a Meeting Online
The working groups for interparliamentary relations of the legislatures of Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic had an online meeting on 14 April. Leader of the Milli Majlis Working Group Elnur Allahverdiyev informed the Czech MPs of the Patriotic War having culminated in Azerbaijan’s victory in November last year and of the current situation in the country. He also made them aware of the devastation Armenia had caused in the Azerbaijani lands it had occupied for thirty years and of the minefields in those areas.
Parliamentary Delegation led by Chair of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova to Visit St Petersburg
A parliamentary delegation to be led by Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova are leaving for St Petersburg on 14 April to join the spring session of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Member-Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States there. The delegation will comprise the MPs Nizami Safarov, Arzu Naghiyev, Amina Agazade, Mikhail Zabelin and Emin Hajiyev as well as Chief of the Milli Majlis Staff Safa Mirzayev and other officials.
At the Plenary Sitting of the Milli Majlis
Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova presided over a scheduled plenary sitting of the Parliament on 13 April. The approval of the agenda was followed by the discussion of the current issues.
Italian Delegation Calls at Milli Majlis
Members of the Milli Majlis Committee for International Relations and Interparliamentary Contacts and of the Azerbaijani Parliament’s Working Group for interparliamentary connections with Italy welcomed on 12 April the visiting delegation led by Chairman of the Italian Senate’s Standing Commission for External Affairs and Emigration Vito Petrocelli.

Chair of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Met with Chairman of Italian Senate’s Standing Commission for External Affairs and Emigration
Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova had a meeting with Chairman of the Italian Senate’s Standing Commission for External Affairs and Emigration Vito Petrocelli on 12 April. Madame Speaker welcomed the guest and then told him confidently that his visit was going to service cause of deepening the interparliamentary co-operation. The interaction between Azerbaijan and Italy that grows from the ancient historical roots set new standards after our country regained its state independence, according to Madame Speaker.
Chair of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Met with President of UN General Assembly’s 75th Session
Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with the President of the UN General Assembly Volkan Bozkır and his delegation currently in Azerbaijan on 9 April. Madame Chair welcomed the guests sincerely before underlining the great importance that Azerbaijan attaches to furthering its relations with the UN and saying that our country is actively involved in peace and security discussions with the branches of this influential international organisation.
Annual Report by Chamber of Accounts was heard by Milli Majlis Economic Policy, Industries and Enterprising Committee
Four items were considered at the meeting that the Milli Majlis Committee for Economic Policy, Industries and Enterprising held on 8 April. The Bills on the agenda of the meeting were reviewed first.
Milli Majlis Health Committee Held a Meeting
Chairman of the Milli Majlis Health Committee Ahliman Amiraslanov said while opening a scheduled online committee meeting on 8 April that its agenda comprised eight Bills containing amendments related to the string of acts pursuant to the presidential decree dated 20 December 2018 and aimed to ensure the implementation of compulsory medical insurance in the Azerbaijan Republic.
Family, Women’s and Children’s Affairs Committee Held a Meeting
The Milli Majlis Committee for Family, Women’s and Children’s Affairs held an online meeting on 8 April. Committee Chair Hijran Huseynova said on opening the meeting about the first item of the agenda being the Bill containing amendments to the Forest, Labour, Family, Criminal, Tax, Criminal Procedure and Administrative Offences codes.

Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with the outbound Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Azerbaijan Erkan Özoral on 8 April.
It was mentioned during their conversation that the progress of the relations between the friendly and fraternal countries in every area and that the strategic ties connecting Turkey and Azerbaijan go back deep into the past and are reliant on their brotherhood.

At the Meeting of the Law Policy and State-Building Committee
The Milli Majlis Committee for Law Policy and State-Building held an online meeting to look at four draft amendments to effective laws on 5 April. First Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis and the Committee Chairman Ali Huseynli opened the meeting and pointed at the interconnection between the first two agenda items, namely, the first-reading draft amendments to the laws ‘On the Prosecution Authorities’ and ‘On Serving in the Prosecution Authorities’.
